MUNICH (Germany) MARCH 6, 2020 (MOREL)-  FIBA Europe is to honor the accomplishments of the leading EuroLeague Women performers in an Awards Ceremony during next month's Final Four. With the popularity of the competition soaring and the league's digital channels showing impressive growth, the launch of the EuroLeague Women Awards marks an exciting new step for women's basketball in Europe.

Headlined by the Most Valuable Player and the All-EuroLeague Women 1st and 2nd Team selections, the awards will feature eight different categories, with the candidates nominated by FIBA Europe and a panel of experts. The winners will be determined by EuroLeague Women coaches, selected media and the fans. 

As well as the individual awards for the 2019-20 campaign, the EuroLeague Women Awards will also celebrate the historic achievements of a past legend who will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Additionally, the Club Excellence Award will be introduced to recognize the wider accomplishments and efforts of EuroLeague Women clubs in terms of community initiatives, communication, marketing and promotion of women's basketball at large.

The categories for the inaugural EuroLeague Women Awards are as follows:

- EuroLeague Women Most Valuable Player
- All-EuroLeague Women 1st Team
- All-EuroLeague Women 2nd Team
- EuroLeague Women Coach of the Year
- EuroLeague Women Young Player of the Year
- EuroLeague Women Defensive Player of the Year
- EuroLeague Women Lifetime Achievement Award
- EuroLeague Women Club Excellence Award

Fan voting opens on Friday, March 6 and will run until Friday, March 27, with the MVP vote conducted separately.

The venue of the 2020 Final Four and more information about the EuroLeague Women Awards 2019-20 will be announced after the conclusion of the Quarter-Finals. (ends)
