Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL), 18 February 2021 (MOREL)–Swiss athlete Marco Odermatt will open the men’s giant at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo, scheduled tomorrow on the Labirinti track, which is being groomed to perfection by the organisers’ track crew.

Immediately behind him, Croatian Filip Zubcic, silver medal in the parallel giant, followed by Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, reigning champion, and Frenchman Alexis Pinturault, who ceded the sceptre in the alpine combined to Austrian Marco Schwarz.

Slovenian Zan Kranjec will start with number 5, followed by Norwegian Leif Kristian Nestvold-Haugen (6), Swiss Loic Meillard (7), Frenchmen Victor Muffat-Jeandet (8) and Mathieu Faivre (9) - giant parallel world champion - German Alexander Schmid (10), Swiss Justin Murisier (11), Italian Luca De Aliprandini (12), Austrian Roland Leitinger (13), Swiss Gino Caviezel (14) and Canadian Erik Read (15). First run at 10.00, second run at 13.30.  A total of 100 competitors, representing 63 nations, are registered for the race. (ends)
